Soto Betawi


Ingredients:
  • 300 gram beef, cubed
  • oil, as needed
  • 1 stalk of lemongrass, crushed bottom
  • 3cm galangal, crushed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves
  • 500ml coconut milk

Blended ingredients:
  • 4 cloves of shallots
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 candlenuts
  • 2cm tamarind
  • ½ tsp pepper seeds
  • 1 tsp salt

Condiments:
  • 2 eggs, boiled and cut into 4
  • 2 riped tomatoes, cut into 6
  • 1 lime

Instructions:
  • In oil, stir fry the blended ingredients in presto until its fragrant.
  • Add the beef, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, bay leaves into the presto. Stir well.
  • Add the coconut milk slowly, preventing it from splitting.
  • Close the presto and cook for 15 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  • Serve warm with the condiments.
